Although England has reached the semi-finals of EURO 2024, so far there is more negativity around the team than positive thoughts that football can come home. Much of the criticism has come from Gareth Southgate, whose team is not playing the best football.
Although the semi-final is a solid result, the team with Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and others was expected to do much more and, above all, to play with much more confidence.

Although the Netherlands reached the semi-finals, it’s worth admitting that they haven’t yet met a top-class team along the way. Yes, they played the French in the group stage and lost 0-0, and they lost 2-3 to the Austrians.
In the eighth-finals, they beat the Romanians 3-0, and in the quarter-finals, they escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Turks. Clearly, the semi-finals are the biggest challenge for the national team, and the same can be said for the English, whose strongest opponent before that was Switzerland.
England, like France, are not scoring goals in this championship, although they have the talent to bring at least two teams.
In the last two matches, the goals have come only when there was nowhere to retreat – against Slovenia, Jude Bellingham’s brilliant shot saved the game in the final seconds, and Saka’s equaliser against the Swiss – both of which were the first shots into the box.
What should be worrying about the Dutch team’s game is that, although they are scoring goals, their defence is not really shining.
Only the French and the Romanians have failed to score in this championship. All the Dutch games have been quite good: 2:1 against Poland, 2:3 against Austria, 3:0 against the Romanians and 2:1 against the Turks.
It would certainly not be a surprise if the Netherlands scored a goal here and the English had to bail out again. It shouldn’t be too difficult for England to score against the Dutch, as they have been beaten by far less talented teams.
There is a good chance that the bet could be returned, and most importantly, not lost. According to the EURO 2024 betting companies, the results 1:1, 2:0 are quite probable, but the odds of 2.0 have enough value in this selection to double the bet amount.
