Despite a woeful World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign so far in which Peru have failed to claim a win, things have been looking up in recent games. A 1-0 win in El Salvador extended the Inca’s unbeaten run to five international games. They have also conceded just once in their last four outings. 

Like Peru, Chile have struggled in World Cup qualifying. However, for La Roja, the Copa America is a competition they tend to enjoy, as they have made it at least to the quarter-final in the last four editions, a run that includes winning the competition in back-to-back campaigns in 2015 and 2016.

It’s hard to write them off with that sort of record.
