The group stage of EURO 2024 is over, and the most important battles are about to start. Ahead of the playoffs, most of the talk is about the hosts, the Germans and the Spaniards, who topped the groups and played some of their best games.

Interestingly, Spain and Germany could already meet in the quarter-finals if they beat their opponents in the eight-finals. The Spanish got one of the weaker opponents in the first round of the playoffs, Georgia.

This European Football Championship was the first in the Georgian national team’s history. The team was not expected to do anything, as it was considered one of the weakest before the tournament. Not surprisingly, Georgia is only 74th in the FIFA rankings.

Georgia qualified for the EURO 2024 playoffs by winning its last match against Portugal. The Georgians can be happy that this match didn’t mean anything for Portugal, so Georgia had a great opportunity to grab three points. Before that, they had drawn with the Czech Republic in the group.

Spain showed its offensive potential in the group stage. In the first game, they scored three goals in the first half against Croatia. In the second, they only won 1-0 against the Italians, but the dominance was evident throughout the match, with no way to close the chances created and score goals.

Spain was already guaranteed first place before the game against Albania, but it still won 1-0, with entirely different players than in the first two matches.

Georgia has some bright players, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in particular, but not much talent besides him. In the first match, Georgia lost 1:3 to Turkey; in the second match, they drew 1:1 against the Czech Republic; and in the third match, they beat Portugal 2:0.

However, Georgia can boast neither a solid defence nor a high offence overall. The team is characterised by desire and effort, and it was not through the individual talent that they made the playoffs.

The Spaniards will undoubtedly control the ball from the first minutes against Georgia. A total of 2.75 means that if three goals are scored, half of the bet will be won, and half will be returned. A successful bet requires four goals.

The expected results are 3:1 or 4:0. A crushing Spanish match here would not be a big surprise – already in the group stage, the Spanish team with Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal showed their potential, speed, and quality in creating dangerous attacks.

Georgia has achieved more than they could have hoped for and will now face an opponent of a different level.
