Team GB heads to the Paris Olympics with high hopes of a strong medal total. The betting line is currently over/under 62.5, and Team GB can beat this line. Over is the pick here.

With 64 medals last time in Tokyo and an overseas best of 67 from Rio in 2016, they’ve been consistent in recent games. They should be able to do that again, and more than that, beating their total from Rio would be no surprise at all, which would make this a record-breaking games for the team.

💂‍♂️Prediction: Total OVER 62.5 @ 1.94

The strength to this Team GB setup is diversity and how the medal hopes are spread across various events. They don’t rely on being incredibly strong in one or two areas, instead, expect to see good numbers of medals from the likes of athletics, swimming and cycling in particular.

Where they may struggle in Paris Olympics is with gold medals, and it would be no surprise to see a situation where the overall medal total remains high, but the number of golds fall.

This is down to a lack of individual superstars, who can dominate, and for that reason, many of Team GB’s gold medals are predicted to be in team based events, such as the team cycling and rowing events.

If there is an individual event they can claim gold in, it could well be the canoe slalom. With Joe Clarke in the men’s competition and Kimberley Woods in the women’s competition, both looking to have excellent chances of success in the water.

A total in the 60s would more than likely put Team GB third on the overall medal table, behind the USA and China, another respectable showing.

This would mean one place higher than last time, where they finished fourth, and is based on overall medals, not the number of gold medals, as this is an area they look set to struggle in.

Since hosting London 2012, Olympic sports in Great Britain have thrived, and the success of London 2012 continues to be seen through strong performances like the one that is expected in Paris.

So, it’s all looking positive for the upcoming games in France, where Team GB can put together a strong medal haul, even though golds may be limited.

With a very diverse team and lots of good chances, they look set to beat the 62.5 medal betting line that is currently on offer. Somewhere in the mid- to high 60s looks to be where they will finish.
